Unsullied by the establishment, BLAZE is an annual exhibition of emerging artists from the ACT region and surrounds, whose artists are noted for their fresh, irreverent and unusual approach to art making. Five new contemporary artists kick off Canberra Contemporary Art Space’s 2019 exhibition program with diverse work across drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and printmaking.
BLAZE is an important stepping-stone for Canberra’s young artists, providing a platform to create edgy, experimental work. CCAS Director, David Broker says, “BLAZE is always eagerly awaited and draws our largest audiences. It’s an intro to the most thrilling work happening, and key to the depth of Canberra’s formidable artistic talents in the early stages of their careers.”
Past BLAZE artists have gone on to participate in prestigious exhibitions interstate and overseas including Primavera, The Sydney Biennale and The National Digital Portraiture Prize.
